JOB: Deputy Headteacher

Our client a private primary school is looking to hire a Deputy Headteacher. The Deputy Head will be directly responsible to the Headmaster. The Deputy Head will act as support to the Headmaster in dealing with pupils, staff and parents.

The deputy head will be expected to carry out a teaching role.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring coverage of the syllabus, quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning outcomes.
  •  Ensuring teachers and support staff have all necessary working resources required in undertaking their responsibilities.
  • Providing leadership in guiding the various co-curricular activities and school-based events.
  •  Working closely with senior school management to achieve high levels of team spirit and synergy.
  • Handling behavior rectification matters to develop unique, courteous, respectful individuals.
  •  Building effective relationships with parents, education partners and external stakeholders.
  • Managing school operations in the absence of the School Head.
  • Overall coordination of the activities  at the primary school and ensure that the  programmes are running smoothly, efficiently and effectively on a day to day basis.
  • Ensuring that learning facilities and environment is clean, hygienic and safe for leaning.
  • Ensuring that children are provided with adequate support for growth and development through relevant activities, guidance, counselling, and appropriate training.
  • Maintenance of academic and other mandatory school records
  • Managing system of effective communication and dissemination of information to pupils, parents and other interested parties.
  • Maintaining high level of discipline in the school for both teachers and pupils.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS;

  • University degree in education primary school option or P1.
  • Registered with TSC is a must.
  • At least 5years experience as a head teacher or a deputy head teacher in a big school.
  • Should be able to teach Kiswahili, English and mathematics, either of the combination but two.
  • Experience in Curriculum management
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
