VACANT POSITION: Formulation Design and Development Executive

Our client a leading Manufacturing firm in East Africa is looking to hire a Formulation Design and Development Executive

Reports to:    Research and Development Manager

Location; Mombasa

JOB PURPOSE:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for working independently on projects and also leading and facilitating formulation and process development and commercialization activities in assigned projects or product categories.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop product formulations in the lab as per product brief.
• Perform benchmark analysis of market samples.
• Perform QC analysis of developed prototypes in alignment with the QC team.
• Work on product costing with the commercial team.
• Make technology presentations for all R & D projects.
• Identify new opportunities with existing product.
• Work on re-engineering of existing formulation for better performance and cost optimization.
• Perform stability study of prototypes and initial commercial batches under normal & accelerated conditions.
• Develop technology transfer docket.
• Perform scale up of experimental & pilot batches to commercial manufacturing order. Work on trouble shooting.
• Ensure delivery of projects in desired timelines and cost.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS;

• Bachelors in Pharmacy or B.Tech(Chemical Technology or Cosmetics) or M.Sc(Chemistry) Analytical Chemistry
• At least a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience  in new product development background handling personal care formulations in reputed company is a must
• The ideal candidate should have experience in formulations development and successful launch of hand wash, body wash, creams, lotions, shampoos, gels and understanding of all other types of skin and hair care products.
• She/he should have knowledge of color cosmetics formulation development is an additional advantage.

Our client, a manufacturing company is looking to hire a Quality control officer.

Reports to; Quality Assurance Manager

Job Location; Nyahururu

JOB SUMMARY;

Ensure production of high quality products through testing, documentation, troubleshooting and openly sharing observations and recommendations to the immediate supervisor or to the management.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sampling and testing ALL incoming materials to ensure they conform to company quality specifications.
• Monitor in-process production to ensure specifications and critical limits are met.
• Approve finished products for release to the market by confirming specifications.
• Ensure correct procedures are followed in all tests in order to obtain accurate results.
• Carry out inspection of all materials to be used in production for conformity.
• Ensure GMPS (Good Manufacturing Practices) are observed throughout production and report any non-conformances.
• Ensure all lab equipment are in good working condition by following operating instructions; reporting any breakdowns.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Ensure regular and effective general housekeeping of the lab facilities, and assist other staff in the execution of maintenance and sanitation programs of production facilities and machinery.
• Maintain accurate daily records in regard to all laboratory analysis
• Carry out monthly stock take of lab equipment and apparatus and reconcile

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS;

• Diploma/ degree in food science or Dairy technology
• Proven experience as a quality control officer especially in a milk processing plant.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficient in computer word processing and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong regard for quality assurance according to company standards
• Good knowledge about industry products and processes
