Job Title: Payroll Accountant
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Job Purpose:
Our client, a reputable professional services firm providing accounting, tax, payroll, audit, and advisory services to a diverse client base, is seeking to recruit a Payroll Accountant to deliver accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services to a diverse client portfolio.
The successful candidate will manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensure compliance with Kenyan statutory requirements, and support strong client relationships while maintaining high service standards.
Job description
- Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients accurately and on time
- Review payroll inputs including overtime, bonuses, benefits, and adjustments
- Calculate and file statutory deductions including PAYE, NSSF, SHA, NITA, Housing Levy, and other applicable levies
- Prepare and submit payroll returns through KRA iTax
- Maintain accurate payroll data, system integrity, and secure records
- Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned payroll clients and respond to payroll queries
- Prepare payroll summaries and periodic reports for client review
- Support payroll audits and reconciliations while maintaining strict confidentiality
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field
- CPA or ACCA qualification
- 3–5 years’ relevant payroll experience, preferably within a professional services firm
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan payroll laws and statutory compliance
- High attention to detail and strong client communication skills
